Bongo’s Bio:
Hello! I’m Bongo. A 7 year old Miniature Australian Shepherd who loves playing Frisbee, being active outside, swimming and retrieving toys in lakes and oceans, and having a job to do. I love learning new tricks as well as performing older ones, playing hide and seek, eating treats, and going on walks and runs with my humans but I am reactive to other dogs while on leash. I would love a home where I have lots of space and can run outside freely in a fenced yard.
I’m very devoted and protective of my family and will bark at strangers until properly introduced to them.
I’m a big fan of getting Frisbees sent in the mail to me, but not a big fan of the FedEX/UPS delivery guy.
I love snuggling with my owners and giving them kisses, but I am not good with toddlers who don’t understand how to respect me and my personal space.
I am about 35 pounds of pure energy, excitement, and love. I want to find a family that I can love with my whole heart and can be myself around. I promise that I will always be there to greet you with love at the front door when you come home and will always watch over you while you sleep. You will not find a more loyal and devoted four legged friend.
Bongo’s Behavior:
Bongo has had some behavior issues the last couple years and I do believe with extra time and care that these behaviors can be corrected. They are listed below:
Bongo is not always good with other dogs. He loves some dogs and others he does not for
whatever reason. Once he has been introduced to another dog in a neutral environment he
typically behaves just fine. He behaves well with the dogs that are already a part of his life, it’s
the dogs that he doesn’t know that he can be aggressive towards. He is very leash reactive when he sees other dogs on walks. He will bark aggressively and sometimes lunge.
Bongo is not always good with cats. Some cats he does not bother but other cats he will chase. A home with no cats would be best for Bongo.
Bongo is great with children and babies but is not patient with toddlers who do not respect his
space. The ideal home for him would have older children 6+ who can respect him and play
Frisbee/fetch with him.
Bongo is not aggressive towards people but he is protective of his family. He will bark at strangers who come over until he is properly introduced. For whatever reason, he does not like the delivery drivers (FedEX, UPS, USPS, etc.) and cannot be allowed to be unleashed around
them.
