I just love building this skill and connecting with Puppies! There are many rewards that we can use to pay our puppy for a job well done and treats seem to be the simplest for Puppies & People to both understand.
With the high social attraction and biddable temperament of the Miniature American Shepherd, food rewards are not always necessary in our daily life/work as just being near and interacting with the humans it often a great reward all on it's own. However when we advance to Kindergarten level skills and beyond, having another form of payment helps so much!!
